Saud Shakeel Sees the Future of PCBs
Saud Shakeel, vicecaptain for Pakistan Test, recently commented on the present condition of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and outlined his strategy for its future.
Shakeel jokingly discussed the often changing coaching staff of the PCB in an open interview. His first step according to him, should he become the PCB chairman, would be to name a permanent head coach for a threeyear term in order to stabilize the team.
Shakeel underlined how team performance and morale would suffer from frequent coaching changes.
He said that the frequent changes in coaching staff disturb the atmosphere of the dressing room since players must have time to adapt to new coaching styles and methods.
Considering his personal experiences, Shakeel confessed that the fast turnover of coaches in recent years had made it difficult for him to get used to fresh coaching techniques.
Shakeel also suggested more money support for local cricket in addition to the question of coaching stability.
Enhancing financial incentives for local players would, in his view, raise the level of play at the ground level and therefore set up a more professional and stable player environment.
He maintained that this would help Pakistan cricket to become more competitive and grow.
Shakeel’s comments underline the difficulties Pakistani cricket is experiencing, particularly the volatility resulting from regular rotation of coaching and selection personnel.
Just two years in, the PCB has seen a slew of alterations including 16 coaches and 26 selectors in recent times. Shakeel thinks the team’s performance is hurt by all this instability of;circumstances.
Ultimately, Saud Shakeel sees a more disciplined and organized strategy for administrating Pakistani cricket.
His plans aim to create a more competitive and stable cricketing situation in Pakistan by naming a longterm head coach and increasing financial help for domestic players.
